1. What happens Inside the Wood & Metal factory?

The wood and metal factory is a power house where all the designs come to life, to us this is where all the magic happens. A team of master craftsmen and carpenters work on blocks of wood, to create pieces of the highest quality and craftsmanship, finishes that make its own benchmark. WM factory houses not just the carpentry and polish units, but also the upholstery section, the metal working section, an inventory and a studio for Accounts, Factory managers and designers.

2. What  do we manufacture in-house?

Wood and metal is primarily into Solid wood and veneer based interiors and furniture, in house we create everything from a small pencil stand to a complete house made of wood. We are famously known for the architectural elements like stairs,  ceilings, flooring, furniture, wall panelling, wooden sculptures and pillars, pooja units and doors, entrance doors, decorative pillars and partitions for all types of spaces. We design and manufacture for direct clients, architects, designers, its a one stop solution for all interiors needs in the luxury segment.

3. what materials do we work with?

We work with mostly solid and veneer based materials, namely teak, oak, walnut, rose, ashwood includes all the variety in them. To complement this, brass, ss, ms with different surface finishings, mother of pearl, wood inlay, quartz and marble inlay, designer tiles and wall surfaces finishes, these could be used to make furniture, or any interior works. For our polish material we use PU, acrylic or water based polish from ICA / SIRCA based on the project and budget.

4. How do we source and select our wood

All our Solid wood is hand picked and used upon selection from forest departments auctions, and from depots around the Dandeli, Kirwati, Hunsur belt, our imported wood from trivandrum. All the material is procured only after a thorough check of the lot, by experts from our team, who tactfully manage the good and the usable for a variety of projects. All the material is certified and purchased from govt auctions and depots. The thorough checks include checking for borrows, cracks, twists and turns in the log of wood, size and girth and location of its origin. All these determine its worth and usage. From the point of selection, the wood goes to our sawing unit in chanapatna, and then to the seasoning unit, after which we receive it our unit in nelmangala.

9.How do we ensure finish quality and durability?
Our state of the art machinery from high end imported brands like Festool, Felder, SCM and BISSE and high end imported blades, maintained by the brands ensures the smooth and efficient running of the machines. Our experienced operators ensure the best in the manufacturing line. Next our polishing materials are imported from italy brands like ICA and Sirca, High end Glue like D3/D4 from Henkel brand, that is water resistant with frequent water borne areas for both interior and exterior spaces.

9.How do we customize each piece?
Our Furniture and interior elements are borne from a design ideation after a discussion with a client's brief. These are hand sketched to get a direct connection from Idea to design than to start off a CAD software. Every furniture is  not just customized, but personalized to the needs for a person, made for them alone. Furniture very often is designed exclusively for a client and never replicated for premium charge.

6.What are our specialized units?

Our main forte is taking absolutely any design from design to production in solid wood. Our production speciality would be in main doors, staircases, pooja unit, carving and sculpture craftsmanship that involves inlays of wood, brass, MOP, etc.

7. How do we balance handcraft and machine precision?
Wood work in general is an art of precision, our carpenters, craftsmen and production head are all experts in the field and are able to maintain consistency and precision. We also devised a framework called jigs that let us use them later for replicating the angle/curve/ design made on ply/MDF for reference. The work of carpentry is of millimeter precision, that's the best it can get!

5. How does the manufacturing process work?

The process starts with a conceptual design sketch, from where design transcends to a more workable design, drawings and design is brainstormed at the factory with the production manager and prototype is made not necessarily the final piece, its a trial piece to weigh the challenges and workability, from here the blocks of seasoned wood is prepared for work, upon carpentry the piece starts to take shape, from here it goes into buffing room, then after a sealer coat, it returns to the buffing room and finally 2 coats with the top coat completes the process.
