  • Project Value
    ₹ 25-35L
  • Completion timeline
    45-60 days
  • Challenges for the projects
Blending traditional elements in a contemporary house was a real challenge.
  • Type
Pooja Unit, Main Door, Storage Areas

Project 12-Ah is a contemporary house with a hint of traditional elements. Wood & Metal designed and executed the main door, the Pooja room and a few storage spaces.

The main door stands out amidst the constantly flowing white walls around the house marking the primary entrance to the residence. Teak wood originating from the Dandeli region has been used. It is arguably the best variety of teak wood found in India from an aesthetic view, characterised by long and beautiful grains.

A maze-esque design has been used in the Main Door. Horizontal mini-fluted brass work divides the door into two equal portions with a Brass sculpture imitating the Sunflower sits in the centre of each.

The Pooja Room has been a front door and a fixed window on the side. The door uses wood, glass and metal in optimum areas to create a visually appealing entrance-way. Vertical bands of wood run on either sides appearing to be striped making use of gentle grooves in the wood. Carvings of deities adorn the horizontal band sitting above the shutters. The pattern on the fixed glass caused dispersed light to enter the Pooja room lighting up the space in the evening is a delight to the eye.

Doors to bedrooms are made of teak wood with slender brass lined running around in a rectilinear fashion. The cabinets showcase angled wooden steps at the base. Vertical bands with the thematic vertical stripe like appearance is seen on the shutters.
